Billing

This page explains how billing works on Fola — the rules, the cycle, what triggers an overage, when a card retry happens.

For the current dollar amounts on each tier, see the live pricing page at folaform.com/pricing. We adjust pricing from time to time and the in-app surface is always the source of truth.

Fola has five tier shapes:

  • DEMO — a free trial of the full firm-pro feature set, capped per-seat. Watermarked PDF output. Hard-capped on AI runs (no overage charges — you bounce off the cap instead of being billed).
  • SOLO — for a single attorney working alone. Per-seat monthly rate.
  • Firm Starter — small firms (2-5 attorneys + paralegals). Per-seat rate; higher AI quotas than SOLO.
  • Firm Pro — mid-sized firms. Largest standard quotas; highest AI Autofill + Review caps in the self-serve range.
  • Firm Custom / Enterprise — volume firms, annual contracts, custom rate cards. Reach out to sales@folaform.com for a quote.

Subscriptions auto-renew on the 1st of each month at 00:05 UTC.

If you have a payment method on file when you subscribe, Fola issues a small prorated activation invoice the moment you subscribe — covering only the days remaining in the current cycle. The card is charged within minutes (next auto-charge sweep). From then on, you’re billed at month-end for the upcoming full cycle.

If no card is on file at subscribe time, the prorated invoice isn’t issued — your first charge runs at month-end for the full upcoming cycle. Add the card any time at Settings → Billing → Payment method.

Mid-cycle tier changes are prorated. Adding seats mid-cycle is prorated to the remaining days in the cycle.

Each AI feature (Ask Fola chat, AI Autofill, Attorney Level Intelligence Review, Mandamus Generation) has a per-seat monthly cap and a per-run overage rate that kicks in once a member exhausts their quota for the month.

Overage is billed alongside the next monthly invoice. The dollar rate per overage run is set per tier and visible in-app at Settings → Billing → Overage rates. DEMO orgs are hard-capped — no overage charges; runs are simply blocked at the cap.

If a card charge fails, Fola retries every 72 hours up to three times. After three failed retries the subscription flips to PAST_DUE:

  • Day 14 overdue — AI features are suspended; form-filling continues
  • Day 30 overdue — full account access suspended
  • Day 60 overdue — subscription terminated; data export window begins

Update your card any time at Settings → Billing → Payment method and Fola will retry the charge on the next sweep.

By default no refunds for partial months or unused AI quota. If you hit a billing error (duplicate charge, prorated math error, tier change confusion), open a support thread and we’ll fix it directly.

USD only as of this writing. Other currencies on request for enterprise contracts.
